Frequently asked questions

What are the age requirements for renting a vehicle?

You must be at least 18 years old to rent a bike, and 21 years old to rent a car in Sri Lanka. These requirements align with local regulations.

What documents do I need to rent a scooter or car in Sri Lanka?

To rent a scooter or motorbike, you need a valid driver's license issued in Sri Lanka, or an International Driving Permit (IDP) if you are a foreign visitor. Local citizens can use their national license for vehicles with appropriate endorsements for bikes or cars. Foreign nationals require both their home country license and an IDP endorsed for Sri Lanka, typically available at the automobile association counter or at the airport on arrival. A copy of your passport or national ID is required for verification.

Do you require a security deposit?

Yes, a refundable security deposit is usually required for all rentals in Sri Lanka, payable at pick up and refunded after the vehicle is returned in good condition. The amount depends on the type of vehicle.

What insurance coverage do you provide?

All vehicles include basic third-party insurance as per Sri Lankan law. Optional comprehensive insurance covering accidental damage and theft may be available for an additional fee. Insurance is void in cases of reckless driving, driving under the influence, or violating traffic regulations. In case of an accident, you must inform the company immediately and file a police report for claims processing. For major damages, we will arrange a replacement vehicle where possible.

Are there any hidden charges or fees?

No, we value transparency. All charges, including rental cost, taxes, basic insurance, and standard accessories, are clearly listed in your rental agreement.

How are the scooters and cars maintained?

All vehicles undergo regular maintenance checks before and after each rental. Vehicles are provided clean, fully serviced, and in good working order to ensure your safety.

How do I return the vehicle?

On the scheduled drop-off date, meet our staff at the designated location for an inspection. If everything is in order, your deposit will be refunded.

How can I pay for the rental?

You can pay using cash, major credit/debit cards, or direct bank transfer. Payment of the rental fee and deposit must be completed prior to receiving the vehicle.

Are helmets provided for scooter rentals?

Yes, DOT-approved helmets for the driver and passenger are provided free of charge. All helmets are sanitized after each use.

Are there mileage limits?

Most rentals in Sri Lanka come with a daily mileage cap (usually 100-150 km per day). Unlimited mileage options may be available at an extra cost; excess mileage incurs additional charges.

What happens if my vehicle breaks down?

Call our 24/7 helpline. We provide roadside assistance and, if repairs cannot be made quickly, we'll arrange for a replacement vehicle whenever possible.

What do I do in case of accident?

Contact us immediately using our emergency hotline. You must also notify the local police for an accident report - this is required for any insurance claims. Follow local traffic laws, drive responsibly, and always wear your helmet.

What emergency numbers should I know in Sri Lanka?

Rental Company Helpline: +94 70 761 5516
Police Emergency: 119
Ambulance: 1990
Fire & Rescue: 110
Tourist Police (Colombo): +94 11 2421052

Are bookings refundable? Can I transfer my booking?

Bookings are typically non-refundable. If you need to transfer your booking to a friend or family member, contact us in advance and we'll assist where possible, subject to approval.

Can I extend my rental period?

Yes, extensions are possible subject to vehicle availability. Contact us as early as possible to confirm and adjust your contract.

Can I drive the vehicle outside the city or to other regions?

Vehicles may be used throughout Sri Lanka, but must stay within the country. If you plan to visit remote areas or national parks, inform us in advance; additional fees or insurance may be required.

How is fuel handled for rentals?

Vehicles are supplied with a minimum quarter tank; return it with the same level as provided. If returned with less fuel, you will be charged for the difference.

Do you offer airport or hotel pickup and delivery services?

Yes, we offer vehicle delivery and pickup at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo as well as at major hotels and guesthouses in most cities for a small additional fee. Please request this service when booking your rental.

Can I rent a vehicle without advance booking?

Walk-in rentals are available based on current fleet availability, but advance booking is strongly recommended, especially during peak tourist seasons, to guarantee your preferred vehicle.

What happens if I receive a traffic fine or parking ticket during my rental?

Renters are responsible for all traffic violations, fines, or parking tickets incurred during the rental period. Please inform our office so we can assist with the payment process and any required documentation.

Are child seats or other extra accessories available?

Yes, we offer child safety seats, GPS units, mobile phone holders, and other accessories on request for an extra charge. Please specify your needs when booking so we can prepare your vehicle accordingly.

Is roadside assistance included?

Yes, all rentals include free roadside assistance for emergencies such as breakdowns, flat tires, or battery issues. We provide support 24/7, island-wide.

Can someone else drive the rented vehicle?

Additional drivers are permitted for an extra fee, provided they present valid documentation and are listed on the rental contract. All drivers must meet the age and licensing requirements.

Are there vehicle restrictions for entering national parks or wildlife areas?

Some national parks and protected areas have access restrictions for private vehicles. Please notify us if you plan to visit such locations; we can advise on required permits or options for guided tours.

What is your fuel policy if I return the vehicle with more fuel than at pickup?

No refunds are provided for excess fuel left in the vehicle upon return.

What is the minimum and maximum rental period?

The minimum rental period is typically 24 hours. Maximum rental duration is subject to fleet availability but long-term rentals (several weeks or months) are welcome and may attract special discounted rates.

Do you offer insurance coverage for personal belongings?

No, insurance provided covers only the vehicle. We recommend keeping valuables with you; rental companies are not responsible for personal belongings left in vehicles.

Can I cancel or change my booking?

Booking changes or cancellations are subject to our policy stated in the agreement. Please contact us as early as possible so we can assist; cancellation fees may apply.

Will I be charged for late returns?

Yes, late returns incur hourly or daily charges as specified in your rental contract. We advise notifying us if you expect a delay.
